Writes Alex Marvez for FoxSports:Like (Vikings coach Brad) Childress in Minnesota, Mangini thought Favre could be the missing piece that gets his squad into the Super Bowl. By making the trade with Green Bay to acquire Favre, Mangini also knew he was gambling on whether or not a 39-year-old quarterback who hadn't participated in a rigorous offseason training program could remain healthy and productive through an entire season. While losing that bet, Mangini said he would place it again. He also understands why Childress is taking the same chance instead of choosing between Sage Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson as his starter."They have a good defense, a great running game and talented receivers," Mangini said Friday afternoon inside his office at Browns headquarters. "The quarterbacks they had would have done a good job, but Brett's going to the Hall of Fame and still has some juice left. He's won a lot of games and has a ton of experience. There's value in that."Beginnings: It's a new coach, with lots of new players, and thus, a new era for the Browns. Writes Zac Jackson for ClevelandBrowns, referring to the opener: It's Step One for the Browns. It's a measuring stick, a great test, and the official start of a new era. It's just one. But it's Game One. And it's a big one. "I honestly believe that each game is its own sort of body of work," Mangini said. "It's a long season and there are 15 more after this one. You can keep improving throughout the course of the season, or not. I've been all over the spectrum, in terms of success and failure early or late. Start slow, you start fast.

The pick is the rookie's fourth in as many games and was key in Sunday's 13-10 win over the Dolphins.Jake Delhomme was 24-34 for 217 yards and -- most importantly -- no interceptions. Peyton Hillis ran for only 57 yards on 18 attempts and was held out of the end zone. Ben Watson had a career high 10 catches for 100 yards and a score.Big whoop. The Browns won Sunday's game with defense. Rookie Joe Haden has taken Eric Wright's starting cornerback job away, and proved the move was a good one by coming up with his fourth interception in as many games. He shared the team lead in tackles with safety Abram Elam with five. Oh, and Elam also had an interception. Mike Adams' interception off David Bowens tip of a Chad Henne pass (thank you, Michigan!) set up Phil Dawson's game winner. And it could be a game-winner because Shaun Rogers blocked ANOTHER kick.Speaking of kicking, Reggie Hodges continues his torrid pace. Nine kicks for an average of 48.7 yards, including two kicks that pinned the Dolphins inside their 20 didn't help make Henne's day any better. So, of all this, who was the Browns MVP on Sunday?
